The Eastern and Southern African Management Institute [ESAMI] seeks the services of a suitably qualified person to fill the post of Maintenance Officer, at its Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.
Duties and Responsibilities Reporting to Manager, Finance and Administration, the Maintenance Officer shall be responsible for undertaking a wide range of maintenance activities related to the maintenance of the Institute's buildings, equipment, facilities and upkeep of the estates

1 . Ensuring effective and efficient operation of the Institutes equipment such as Boiler, generator, water pump, laundry machines, fire equipment's;
  1. Handling electrical and plumbing works
  2. Carrying our maintenance and repairs to structural, mechanical and electrical systems. boilers, heating and ventilation systems. buildings
  3. Developing and carrying out preventive and maintenance schedules and undertaking routine inspections of the buildings, fixtures, fittings
  4. Monitoring utilities consumption and ensure the efficient use of the Institutes resources
  5. Diagnose any faults in buildings, boiler and machines and report any defects and suggested improvements
  6. Coordinate and carryout emergency and regular repairs of buildings and equipment
  7. Ensure all relevant health and safety regulations are complied with
  8. Preparation of maintenance budgets
  9. Ensure the Institute Boreholes are in good running condition
  10. Any other duties as may be assigned
A minimum of a Diploma in mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification with five (5) years' experience in maintenance related duties in a reputable organization

Competence and Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and electrical systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of utilities and ability to safely operate electricity, gas, water systems, plant and equipment
  • Electrical and mechanical skills
  • Knowledge of fire and safety regulations
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience on boiler operation
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Borehole functions
