HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation is a Swiss INGO actively contributing to the improvement of the living conditions and status of economically poor and socially disadvantaged people in more than 33 developing countries. Water and Infrastructure, Rural Economy, Environment and Climate, Education and Skills Development, and Governance and Peace are the main areas of focus of HELVETAS.
HELVETAS has been working in Tanzania for more than 15 years. One of its projects is Grain Postharvest Loss Prevention (GPLP) project, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The overarching goal of the project is to reduce postharvest losses in food grains in the central corridor of Tanzania and improve food security and incomes for targeted farming households as well as rural employment through appropriate technology, capacity building and informed policy. The project is implemented in Morogoro, Dodoma, Shinyanga and Manyara Regions. The project aims to achieve the goal by adopting Market Systems Development (MSD) approach which is guided by four underlying principles: systemic changes in market systems, sustainable change by involving actors with incentives to contribute to long-term change, largescale impact on the lives of beneficiaries like poor smallholder farmers, and the role of the project as a facilitator
The Marketing Officer will facilitate and support capacity building of partners on postharvest management (PHM) related advisory and training services aimed at ensuring targeted smallholder farmers have increased awareness of PHM and increased market demand of postharvest management practices and technologies. The officer is responsible to coordinate and monitor project activities in a specific Region. The officer will work closely with other like-minded organisations to organise marketing and promotion campaigns on PHM and collect evidences from the field to support support policy dialogue and advocacy initiatives.
