PROJECT FIELD OFFICER 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Sokoine University Graduate Entrepreneurs Cooperative (SUGECO) is a cooperative established in July 2011 registered under Tanzania Cooperative Act No 20 of (2003). SUGECO in partnership with Farm Africa Tanzania have a two years project on Nutrition awareness and cash crops value chain (NACC) which will be implemented in Kilosa and Gairo Districts, southern Morogoro, The project targets to improve the livelihood of rural communities by supporting smallholder farmers (SHF) in the region, to grow and sell high quality cash crops specifically Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) and Quality Protein Maize.
Alongside improving agricultural knowledge and inputs, the project will also address barriers which contribute to household malnutrition by promoting consumption of nutritious crops. SUGECO will implement this project with support of Farm Africa and funding from BIG LOTTERY FUND.
We are seeking for two Project Officers and one Driver to support implementation of this project.
1. Position; Project Field Officer (1 Post)
Reports to: Project Coordinator

Location: Kilosa and Gairo Districts

Duration;2 years Fixed Term

Duties and Responsibilities
He/she will be responsible with the oversight of project field activities, manage the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of all aspects of the project with other project staff.
The officers will lead the formation and capacity building of the farmer producer groups to develop profitable and sustainable markets for
Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) and Quality Protein Maize
(QPM) and to manage their crop husbandry and production sustainably.
Reporting to the Program coordinator, the Project Field Officer manages agricultural field activities and supports the Program Coordinator in providing leadership and management of this project.

Qualification and Experience
Minimum Bachelor degree in agriculture general, agronomy, crop science or closely related subject with a sound knowledge of the agricultural production systems, agricultural value chains and policy environment in Tanzania.
Masters in crop science, value chain development or other related field at an accredited university will be highly valued
A proven track record In the implementation of agricultural value chain projects particularly within NGOs in Tanzania and a minimum of three (3) years working experience specializing In crop management, and or a closely related sector is preferred
The post holder should have excellent project planning and execution skills, and strong communications and facilitation skills.

NUTRITIONIST

2. Position; Nutritionist (1 Post)
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Location: Kilosa and Galro Districts
Duration; 2 years Fixed Term

Duties and Responsibilities
He/she will be responsible with project nutritional and health activities, including conducting health awareness sessions to community member’s, focused on health benefits of vitamin A, and protein rich crops,
Conduct training on food preparation for pregnant woman and those with fewer than five. Undertake refresher training sessions to district maternal and child health staff at village clinics
Work with SUGECO team to advice nutritional aspects on OFSP product development
Reporting to the Program coordinator, the Nutritionist will manages project health and nutritional activities and supports the Program
Coordinator in providing leadership and management of the project.

Qualification and Experience
Prospective applicants should have a degree in human nutrition, Food science and technology or closely related subject with a sound knowledge of the current nutritional challenges and agricultural production systems, agricultural value chains and product development.
We are seeking someone with a proven track record in the Implementation of Nutritional and health activities particularly within NGOs in Tanzania
A minimum of three (3) years working experience specializing in human nutrition, and or a closely related sector is preferred.
The post holder should have excellent project planning and execution skills, and strong communications and facilitation skills.

DRIVER 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

3. Position; Driver (1 Post)
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Duty Station: Kilosa, Morogoro and Gairo Districts
Duration; 2 years Fixed Term

Duties and Responsibilities of a Driver
Driving the project vehicles to different project sites as instructed by the project coordinator
Transport employees and other individuals such as official guests in a safe and responsible manner. Keep the assigned vehicles free from damage, in acceptable condition and consistently clean in a manner which Is consistent with the project Image and report mechanical problem to the Administrative officer
Advice the project team on the safety measures to observe before any travelling in different locations and ensure the vehicle is in good and safe working conditions.
Fill in the log sheet indicating the trip's details (date and Kilometres covered) and seek approval (movement authorization) before any trip
Maintain an excellent driving record and regularly check the basic vehicle condition by dally inspecting all the key vehicle alerts (oil levels, tyres pressure etc.)
Supports the project team by providing administrative assistance (e.g. filling arrangement or photocopying) when the need arises
Perform any other functions as will be assigned by the project coordinator in writing or verbally.

Qualification and experience

SUGECO is seeking for multi-task personnel to take over the role of
project driver and office assistant.
Minimum holder of form four certificate of secondary education from
recognized private or public school
Diploma or certificate in Transport Management, mechanics, or related field is an added advantage
Must possess a valid class C driving license with good driving records and ethics and not less than three years of experience In professional driving with reputable organization
