THE UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA
MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
PUBLIC NOTICERe: Exit point for the students who were following the 5- years integrated degree programme
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology through the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) revoked the approval that established St. Joseph University in Tanzania (SJUIT) – Arusha Campus on 25th February, 2016. Following this decision students were transferred to different higher learning institutions to continue with their studies. During the transfer process all students were assessed to analyze their credits and qualifications
against the cut off points for the entry qualification of the prospective institution.
All students enrolled and studying the 5-Year Integrated BSc. Education Programme were transferred to Luguruni Campus of the SJUIT in Dar es Salaam. However, following the evaluation process some students were found not to have the required qualifications for teachers training as it has been stated multiple times in different channels and podiums by government officials. Students in this group who were found with requisite qualifications were informed to continue with studies at the Luguruni Campus. The sense of having qualification here means these students have the passes in their respective subjects
required to follow and study Teachers Training Certificate Grade
“A” which was the first exit point according to the curriculum of their programme.
This is to inform the students at SJUIT who were following the five years integrated programme that they will now have to exit at certificate and diploma level in accordance with the approved curriculum. If such students wish to continue with further studies they will have to apply afresh.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology further informs the students that their study loan through Higher Education Student Loan Body (HESLB) has been stopped. This is due to the fact that in accordance with their level of study and loan provision
guidelines they are not eligible.
