AICT, DIOCESE OF TABORA is a religious institution which also runs community based projects, currently AICT Church in collaboration with PACT – Tanzania is implementing OVC program to ensure sustainable wellbeing of OVC in Tabora Municipality. For efficient execution of its duets, AICT Tabora is looking for enthusiastic, creative, energetic individuals who are currently to fill this position.
 (Short – term employment):

Position: Pamoja Tuwalee, Program Accountant

Reports to: General Secretary

Location: Tabora Municipality

Job Objectives:

Pamoja Tuwalee Program accountant position is accountable for monitoring the progress of the Program, investigating variances, approving expenses and ensuring that Program transactions are properly recorded. The Project accountant will work closely with project managers and project officers to device the budget facilitate the payment process and perform cost assessments for a particular project or portfolio activity. The accountant will be required to take part in the executive decision – making process, often providing financial analyses on which management may base decisions about product development and other matters.
 
Principal Accountabilities:

1. Maintain project accounts in the accounting system
2. Maintain Project – related records, including employee’s statutory deductions and submissions
3. Authorize access to project accounts whenever needs arise
4. Authorize the transfer of expenses into and out of project – related accounts
5. Review and approve timesheet for work related to a project
6. Review and approve payment related to a project expenditure / budget
7. Review account tools related to project and expenses
8. Investigate Project variances and submit variance reports to management
9. Investigate all Project expenses
10. Close out Project accountants upon Project completion
11. Close out Project accounts upon Project completion
12. Create and submit government reports and tax returns related to Project
13. Compile information for internal and external as required
14. Prepare Bank Reconciliation monthly
15. Perform any other duets as assigned by your employer

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor degree in field (s) relevant to fulfillment of the duets and responsibilities as described above.

Experiences:
Energetic team player who enjoys working with community structures and members
At least two years of progressively responsible experience as a program development professional with preference for candidates whose experience includes working with NGOs and Faith Based Organizations
Social work experience plus

Skills:
Creative thinker
Ability to work with team members stakeholders and community members of national communities
Demonstrate understanding of the spectrum of OVC/MVC services and challenges faced in delivery of services in poor areas
Excellent written and oral communication abilities
Strong computer (EXCEL) literacy skills
Strong language capability in both Swahili and English

Contract Duration:
A successful candidate will be offered a TWO months contact with possibility of extension depending on donor
