Finance & Accounting Manager
Location: Arusha, Tanzania or Nairobi, Kenya
You will manage the aspects of the business that involve money across multiple country entities and offices.  If you want to be in a core, integral role at the heart of a fast-growing renewable energy organization in East Africa, this job is for you.
What You’ll Make Happen:
Monthly, quarterly and annual financial close of income statement, balance sheet and cash flow within NetSuite and across multiple country entities and offices, to GAAP/IFRS standardsSystems and processes for: interfacing with other teams within NetSuite on inventory and equipment purchased/used; tagging of expenses within NetSuite for projects, grants, business unit, etc; proper invoicing, expense and receipt systems; bank reconciliations; fixed asset capitalization; project time and cost trackingInternal budgeting and forecasting across teams and countriesImplementation of transfer pricing policy and intercompany processesTax compliance across corporate income, VAT, payroll and withholding taxesGrant and investor reporting to support capital raisingOversight of cash books and cash requestsLiaising with and integrating Inventory tracking systems and processes with financial management and reportingDevelopment and professional growth in the personnel you manage and lead

Job Description and Responsibilities
As an Installation Lead your primary responsibilities are to deliver renewable energy systems and solutions to our clients.  You will be installing, testing and commissioning those systems in a safe and professional manner.  Your value to the company is directly related to your ability to manage teams of Installations Technicians on site and take responsibility for installing PowerGen solutions per our system designs.  You will report directly to the Installation Manager or the VP of Installations who will communicate with you regularly in order to help you set goals and provide feedback on your progress towards achieving them.

Managing installation technicians during installations on site.Communicating system design and Fabrication requests to the Fabrication Manager and Workshop ManagerDriving to installation sites for site visits, installations and periodic maintenance and troubleshooting.Liaising with clients prior to, and during, visits.Travel throughout Kenya and East Africa.Liaising with PowerGen’s Grid and Workshop Teams to ensure the correct materials are procured and installations for which you are responsible are completed successfully.Generating balance of materials required for installations.Completing all installation documentation including wiring diagrams, testing and commissioning sheets, installation reports, trip budgets, and expense reports.Properly utilizing internal systems (email, CRM, calendar) to maintain operational organization and help drive sales.Completing quarterly self-review and collaborate with management on training progress and goals.Knowledge sharing – sharing your experience with and training colleagues.
Skills and Qualifications

Job Description and Responsibilities
The MBA Fellow will be responsible for supporting at least one of the following areas of expertise:Operations and Strategy, Finance, Product Management or Marketing.A more detailed, but by no means exhaustive, list of potential areas of engagement is outlined below:
Developing internal systems to track and analyze qualitative and quantitative data from current operational micro-grids and completing a strategic analysis and plan for ways to increase ARPUs and electricity usageExploring and developing parallel utility models that can be built alongside electricity micro-grids, including data and water.Working on financial models and proposals with the purpose of securing debt, equity and other sources of financing for micro-grid projects in the region.Developing and testing new structures for accounting for and financing of micro-grids, a relatively new asset class.Interfacing with relevant companies, government agencies, NGOs, multilateral organizations, charities, private investors, and other entities to develop and support new and existing strategic partnerships.Developing and implementing tools and processes to improve site selection for new markets.Providing product management {and if qualified, execution} of software development for a technology platform for micro-grid operation, payments, and customer management.Exploring and developing additional value-added services that can be delivered to micro-grid customers, including financing for consumer durables like refrigerators and televisions.Establishing operational and executional plans for growth in Tanzania, with a focus on how PowerGen can most effectively and efficiently source sites and install projects in the region.Analyzing current workshop, fabrication, inventory, installation, and procurement systems and create recommendations for improved efficiency, productivity, and reducing costs.Traveling, as necessary, within the region to visit prospective installation sites or clients and conduct market research.
Our objective is to provide the MBA Fellow with a stimulating environment where he or she is able to pursue projects that suit his or her interests within the context of PowerGen’s needs. 
Skills and Qualifications
Current MBA candidate at or recent graduate of a leading American or International business school.2+ years’ experience in management consulting, finance, product management, marketing or other relevant fields.Prior experience working in a developing country or with emerging markets preferred.Experience in database management and programming, particularly with MySQL is desirable.Demonstrated interest in energy and some technical understanding of power systems preferred.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.Languages:  English fluency required.  Swahili a plus.Desire to learn, ability to ask questions, resilience in a new environment, collaborative approach to problem solving, and an open-mind to new ways of doing things may be more valuable than specific technical knowledge or prior work experience.  We are a small team and consider each member as a vital component to our success.  The Fellow should be flexible and eager to lend a hand wherever needed, even if a specific task may fall outside the core Fellowship description.  Overall, we seek a highly self-motivated, passionate, and committed person who is excited about working to bring affordable electricity to the  millions of East Africans who go without access – in a for-profit context.

As a growing company operating in a developing country, Fellows with their own source of funding from their MBA programs or elsewhere are highly preferred.  To support any grants, stipends, or fellowships garnered by the Fellow, PowerGen will provide:
