Job Description



Acacia Mining seeks to employ a Blaster based at Bulyanhulu Mine in Tanzania. This role reports to the Section Leader Alimak & Longhole and the role holder will be accountable to achieve mining production targets safely and efficiently by complying with relevant general management of Mining Supervisors, relevant systems, processes, policies, procedures and standards in order to meet the objectives, goals and targets for the Mining Production section. The incumbent must perform all related activities in a responsible manner in order for the BGML operations to sustain its profitability.

This is a permanent role, with the work roster being fourteen (14) days on and seven (7) days off.


• Perform Field Level Risk Assessments and Entry Examinations at the work areas and ensure the health and safety of team members, visitors and contractors at the working area.
• To take full responsibility for all blasting related operations, infrastructure and resources.
• Ensure that all blasting related work is done in a safe manner.
• To take full responsibility for proper care, conditions, and use of all blasting machinery and equipment.
• Attend daily line up & toolbox meetings.
• Prepare and perform charging activities.
• Record & report charging performance.
• Perform I-KON Blasting.
• Identify improved Charging & Blasting methods.
• Monitor and control blasting efficiency.
• Ensure that all incidents are reported and investigated in accordance with ACACIA requirements.
• To ensure that there is a means of identifying and rectifying hazards by means of conducting risk assessments for the protection of employees and mining property.
• Ensure that facilities and equipment are being used safely and that appropriate work method is being applied.
• Make sure that appropriate PPE is used for the job assigned.
• Assist with the training and skills development of trainees.
• To provide technical, practical and field support in various working areas of the mine focusing in increasing work effectiveness and productivity while lowering cost through improved good operational practices.


Qualification Requirements:

• Secondary Education
• Underground Blasting License.

Experience Requirements:

• At least 10 years underground experience preferably in blasting operations.

Skills / Knowledge Requirements:

• Hazard identification and rectification
• Time management, scheduling and planning.
• Charging and Blasting methods in Long hole stopes
