1. INTRODUCTION
Tanzania Geothermal Development Company Limited (TGDC) is a subsidiary company of The
Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) which was established in December 2013 for
spearheading geothermal resources development in Tanzania.

generations with reliable, affordable and environmental friendly energy.

To offer reliable and efficient geothermal energy development services to support the nation's
development vision.
4. MANDATES:
TGDC is mandated:
 To carry out geothermal exploration including geological, geochemistry, seismological,
volcanological studies;
 To carry business In geothermal drilling for steam and hot water, well testing and logging,
reservoir assessment and management;
 To mobilize funds for geothermal development from various sources;
 To promote geothermal business and developer of alternative uses of geothermal energy than
electricity including watering cultures, therapeutic uses, geothermal bathing, drying of farm
products and all industrial and non-industrial uses;

persons to the positions mentioned hereunder:

4.1. Position: Manager Planning & Projects (1 Post) – Ref: TGDC/HR/025

Reporting to: Director Business Development
Directorate:
Business Development
Job Purpose:
To plan development projects and overseeing their implementation including participating in the strategic
planning process, business development, research and development, as well as packaging of major
geothermal projects for power generation and direct applications.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
 Planning development projects and programs and oversee their implementation in line with the mission
and goals of the organization.
 Participate in project identification, planning, packaging, negotiation and monitoring the performance.
 Participates in the formulation of company strategy, short and long term plans, budgets, coordination,
monitoring and evaluation of the results.
 Manage the department’s business strategy, plans and their implementation
 Participates in soliciting funds from different sources for supporting the projects.
 Prepare plans and budgets for the planning section
 Review work performance of staff in the planning section including their development
 Provides leadership and ensure effective management of staff and resources and ensure good industrial
/employee relations within the planning section.
 Perform any other related duties as assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
 Master’s Degree in Engineering, Earth Sciences, Business, management, Economics or relevant field.
 Registration with ERB or member of a relevant professional body is an added advantage
 Minimum of three (3) years working experience in Project Planning in energy or related sector.
 At least two (2) years of working experience in Donor Funded Projects or International Organizations.

4.2. Position: Geophysicist (1 Post) – Ref: TGDC/HR/026

Reporting to: Manager Geoscience Services
Directorate:
Technical Services
Job Purpose:
To perform an efficient operation of exploration and development of geothermal fields. Perform geophysical
studies, assessing the locations of potential geothermal prospects using geophysical techniques and advising
managerial technical on development strategies. Responsible for performing operations and strategic plans
in line with the company’s Mission and Vision Statements.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
 Surface geophysical exploration in geothermal sites using different geophysical methods
 Responsible for identifying and assessing the locations of potential geothermal reservoir
 Performing borehole geophysics logging data processing and interpretations
 Geophysical data processing and interpretation using computer Geo-software and preparing
geophysical reports;
 Advising engineering on the location of the drilling sites and the depth to the geothermal reservoir
 Perform any other related duties assigned by your supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
 Bachelor’s Degree and/or in Master’s Degree in Geology (Geophysics) or equivalent
 A minimum of 2-3 years of work experience in Geophysical exploration
 Experience in geophysical geothermal exploration techniques is an added advantage.
Desired Attributes & Competencies
 Must be capable of using different geophysical equipment in geothermal exploration
 Must be Competent in Computer Geo-software for Geophysical Data Processing and Interpretation.
 Must be Critical thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of
alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
 Must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to produce quality work
 Good teamwork, Interpersonal and negotiation skills
 Good communication skills both Swahili and English languages.

4.3. Position: Direct Use Engineer/Officer (1 Post) – Ref: TGDC/HR/027

Reporting to: Manager Direct Uses
Directorate:
Business Development
Job Purpose:
To identify geothermal direct heat utilization opportunities, plan and promote viable programs and projects,
supervise their implementation including developing monitoring and evaluation systems.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
 Identifies, promotes and develops direct use projects in line with TGDC’s mission and vision.
 Formulates of direct use programs, projects, action plans and setting of long and short term targets.
 Researches direct-use geothermal technologies including but not limited to industrial, agricultural,
domestic, touristic, aquaculture uses of geothermal heat.
 Participate in strategizing and mobilization of financial resources for implementation of direct use
development programs and projects.
 Prepares packages of direct use projects, and monitoring and evaluation of performance.
 Review status reports, modify schedules and plans as required and keep the management appraised of
the project progress on a regular basis.
 Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as and when directed by supervisor.
Minimum Qualification
 Undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Processing, Agricultural, Aquaculture engineering, or related
field from a recognized University;
 Registration with ERB or member of a relevant professional body is mandatory
 Minimum of 2 year of experience in Agro-Processing.

4.4. Position: Human Resources & Administrative Officer (1 Post) – Ref: TGDC/HR/028

Reporting to: Manager Human Resources
Directorate:
Human Resources
Position Objective:
Responsible for providing support in the various human resource functions, which include recruitment,
staffing, training and development, performance monitoring and employee counseling.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
 Facilitates the recruitment and selection processes to ensure that the TGDC identifies and employs
suitably qualified candidates in accordance with the laid down procedures.
 Analyzes HR data to identify risks and opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness and
efficiencies.
 Prepares salary, benefits and deductions to ensure employees are paid accurately and timeously
 Compiles, captures and maintains update human resources information system to ensure that the data
is accurate and readily available for preparation of various management reports.
 Interprets, participates in disciplinary hearings and consistently implement the HR Policies and
Procedures to ensure the appropriate understanding by employees and therefore minimize grievances
and related queries.
 Administer and implement staff welfare and benefits programs consistent with employees’ contracts of
employment and also take minutes and produce accurate records thereof;
 Assist Manager Human Resources in implementation of the corporate training plan to ensure that
departmental training and developmental needs are accomplished;
 Administers performance appraisal process in the company including coordinating appraisal meetings
for departments;
 Provides administrative services such as office services (travel arrangements, supply of furniture,
stationery items, maintenance of office building and office equipment/machines);
 Assists in managing medical services, health and safety issues in the company;
 Perform any other relevant duties as may be assigned by Manager Human Resources.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
 Undergraduate equivalent qualification in Public Administration or Human Resources Management.
 At least three (3) year of demonstrable working experience in HR function including industrial relations
management

4.5. Position:ICT Officer (1 Post) – Ref: TGDC/HR/029 (Re-advertised)

 Reporting to: Manager Finance
Directorate:
Corporate Services
Job Purpose:
To plan, organize and coordinate the provision of Information and Communications Technology (ICT)
services to ensure the cost effective and availability of all ICT requirements consistent with TGDC’s
business needs.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
 Develops and implements company’s ICT strategy for the company;
 Monitors security of equipment and operating systems across the company;
 Develop, monitor and control database systems to ensure easy access and retrieval of database
information.
 Provides support to users on Installing and configuring emails, ICT equipment such Computers,
Scanners and troubleshooting of the same;
 Monitors and controls network, databases and systems (sever administration, accounting systems, email
system, Internet, HR system) for maximum functionality;
 Manages the implementation of ICT projects to ensure that deadlines, deliverables and objectives are
realized;
 Manages website of the company to ensure it is always available and accessible;
 Develops various programs/software for departments to simplify service delivery to internal and external
customers;
 Ensures that the Company’s systems and information is maintained securely;
 Provides ICT related training to all TGDC staff
 Trains new and current employees on computer software and ICT systems.
 Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by the respective Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
 Bachelor’s Degree in ICT/Computer Engineering/Computer Science or related field;
 Working experience of three (3) years ICT function in reputable organization.
Desired Attributes & Competencies:
 Development and monitoring of backup procedures and plans
 Hardware configurations and maintenance
 Efficient Database administration skills using ORACLE, MySQL etc.
 Able to develop programs using various programming languages such as PHP, Java, C++ etc.
 Installations, Upgrades, Configuration and Administration of the ICT infrastructure.
 Knowledge of IT/Security management standards
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Permanent & Pensionable including six months of probation for other positions than Manager Planning &
Projects. Manager Planning & Projects will be on three (3) years renewable contract.
REMUNERATION:
A competitive package (according to existing Salary Structure) will be offered to successful candidates.
