Vacancies Announcement at The National Institute of Transport (NIT)


The National Institute of Transport (NIT) was established by Act of parliament, Number. 24 of 1982. The history of NIT dates back to 1975, when due to the complexity of the transport sector and the intricacies involved in its management necessitated the introduction of comprehensive training programmes for development of the sectoral manpower. Currently the institute is under the Ministry of Works Transport and Communications. It is fully accredited by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) will the Certificate of
Registration Number REG./EOS/009 of 2002. It offers education and training programmes leading to qualifications recognized nationally and internationally.
Rector of the National Institute of Transport invites all suitable qualified Tanzanians to apply for the following vacancies:

1. Tutorial Assistant in Mechanical/Civil Engineering (3 Posts)

Qualifications and Experience
Holder of Bachelor degree in Mechanical/Civil Engineering with upper second (NTA Level 8) of GPA not less than 3.5, and for unclassified degrees, overall average of B+ grade or above in the relevant field of study.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Teaches up to NTA level 6 (ordinary diploma)
• Assists in conducting tutorial and practical exercises under close supervision.
• Prepare learning resources for tutorial and practical exercises.
• Assists in conducting research under close supervision.
• Conduct assessments for students up to NTA level 6
• Carry out consultancy and community services under close supervision.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Salary Scale: PHTS 1.1

2. Instructor/Tutor II (5 Posts)

Qualification and Experience
Holder of Bachelor degree (NTA Level 8) in Automobile Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering/Civil Engineering with minimum of GPA 3.2 and for unclassified degrees, overall average of B grade or above in the afore mentioned fields of study.
From Industry/Labor Market
• At least a Higher Diploma (NTA Level 7 or equivalent with GPA not less than 3.5 or Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (NTA Level 8 or equivalent) with minimum of GPA 3.2 and for unclassified degrees, overall average of B grade or above.
• At least five (5) years experience (Higher Diploma) or three (3) years experience (bachelors degree) in relevant work industry.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Teaches up to NTA level 6 and may assist teaching in higher NTA Levels.
• Administers examinations up to NTA level 6 students.
• Conducts and supports research and consultancy works.
• Prepares learning resources.
• Supervises field Training.
• Supervises and assists junior staff.
• Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Salary Scale: PTSS 10.1

3. ICT Officer Grade II (3 Posts)

Qualifications and Experience
• Holder of Bachelor Degree in computer science or information systems; Telecommunication; electrical engineering; or related computer studies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Software systems developers

• Assist in capturing user customer requirement specifications CRS
• Supports systems analysis and design.
• Assist in implementing software systems (write and document code)
• Support system configurations.
• Assist in conducting user acceptance test.
• Participate in design review and provide input for user documentation.
• Liaise with user support staff in supporting end users.
• Maintain and support various business process applications.
• Performs any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Salary Scale: PGSS 7.1
4. Nursing Officer IV (1 Post)
Holder of Form IV or Form VI with Diploma in Nursing and must be registered with Nurses and Midwives` Council of Tanganyika.
Duties and Responsibilities

• To perform all duties relating to Nursing.
• To conduct diagnosis of patients.
• To make a thorough analysis of the health condition of a patient with the aim of assisting him/her.
• To collect all important information from the patient in order to make a just decision pertaining to his/her health.
• To sterilize the items used in treatment.
• To prepare Nursing care plans and implementation.
• To supervise all Nurses under him/her.
• To make analysis of the health development of the patient and report to his/her supervisor.
• To perform any other duties as directed by his/her superior.

Salary Scale: PMGSS 2

5. Health Attendant III (1 Post)

Holder of form IV who has at least a one year certificate course in Nursing or equivalent from institutions recognized by the National Council for Nurses in Tanganyika with work experience of not less than two (2) years in the Public Services or in any other reputable Health institution.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintain neat and clean environment of hospital`s equipment, wards and environment.
• Assist patient in daily activities such as personal hygiene, eating, toileting, shaving etc.
• Provide medical care and basic nursing duties under the supervision of a Nurse such as taking temperature, respiration of a Nurse such as taking temperature, respiration, pulse, blood pressure and level of pain emptying catheter bags.
• Responsible for drugs collection and other medical equipments.
• Any other duties as may be assigned by the professional Nurse personnel.
Salary Scale: PMOSS 1
