Position title: Project Management Consultant
Reports to: Knowledge for Health, Knowledge Management Advisor 
Project: Knowledge for Health, East Africa Field Project
Location: Arusha, Tanzania (with possible regional travel)
Duration: 1 March 2016 – August 2016

The Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP) works to inspire healthy behaviors worldwide utilizing social and behavior change communication, knowledge management, research and evaluation, and capacity building. A central principle of CCP’s work in knowledge management is to capture and synthesize health information so that it is easy to find and easy to use by policy makers, program managers, and health service providers. The Consultant will support the Knowledge for Health East Africa Field Project and the KM Advisor based at the East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC) Secretariat in Arusha, Tanzania.  

The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, able to prioritize and take on challenging initiatives, be organized and feel comfortable working in diverse environments.  Other core qualities include a strong work ethic, resourcefulness, inquisitive inquiry, strong people skills and a strategic ability to work well with a diverse group of colleagues. 

This particular position requires strong writing and editing skills in addition to experience with project management techniques and social media platforms. 

Essential duties and responsibilities
Assist in organizing a workshop on resource mobilization using knowledge management tools and techniques for up to 30 ECSA staff
Assist in organizing a workshop on writing journal articles, abstracts and scientific papers for up to 30 ECSA staff 
Assist in organizing ECSA participation in a regional share fair meeting 
Assist the Knowledge Management Advisor in supporting ECSA staff with the implementation of Knowledge Management Action Plans.  Assist with on-job trainings or identifying resources to enhance KM expertise among ECSA staff
Assist with documenting and disseminating best practices 
Support the development and implementation of a shared virtual calendar
Assist in training on use of social media
Supporting the finalization of the ECSA directory of experts 
Other duties as may be assigned 

Workshop and meeting support entails the following: establishing, amending and following up on schedules and timelines, task and meeting management, action planning, developing presentations, establishing a monitoring system, and tracking progress on outputs. 

Graduate degree in any of the disciplines
Knowledge of principles and approaches of project management 
2-4 years of project management, knowledge management, or related experience with a public or private organization, development partner, or NGO.
Experience leading live, virtual or blended trainings 
Experience in content promotion and/or dissemination
Experience conducting information needs assessments
Professional writing and editorial skills, demonstrated publication and production skills
Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated organizational skills
Excellent computer skills
