About UCRT
Ujamaa Community Resource Team (UCRT) supports local communities to improve their livelihoods by controlling, managing and benefiting from their lands through sustainable natural resource management. We work with eight different ethnic groups in 57 villages spread across eight districts of Northern Tanzania.

Our Vision is one of improved livelihoods for pastoralists, hunter-gatherers and agro-pastoralist communities through social justice and sustainable natural resource management.

Our Mission is to promote and enhance communities’ capacity to improve their livelihoods and to sustainably manage their natural resources.

Ujamaa Community Resource Team (UCRT) invites applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill in the below mentioned (1) vacant post, as follows;

KITETO PROGRAMME IN KITETO DISTRICT (MAKAME WMA)
WORK STATION; KITETO
Field Officer report directly to their Programme Coordinator and the Programme Manager and indirectly to the Executive Director

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

·        Bachelor Degree in Natural Resource Management, from a reputable college or University

·        Must be computer literate

·        Fluent in written and spoken Kiswahili and English

·        Flexible and able to live and work in remote, rural environment with local communities

·        Able to drive/ride a motor cycle and with valid license

·        At least three (3) years work experience around relevant field.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·        To assist communities to plan and manage their land and natural resources sustainably and equitably through a participatory process.

·        Work with 5 villages in Kiteto to improve village democracy/transparency initiatives and Makame WMA.

·        To assist communities and WMA to develop transparent and accountable systems to deal with benefits accruing from their common resources.

·        To prepare community meetings and training schedules.

·        Represent UCRT in meetings, workshops and other undertakings in Kiteto programme as may be necessary.

·        Reports on activity, event and monthly on the progress of the programme with lessons/challenges in implementing the projects that UCRT may take on

·        Assist the Programme Coordinator with the planning of work projects with cost estimates and provide advice on project implementation and approach.

·        Assist in the implementation of natural resource management (NRM) projects through facilitation of land use plans, WMA and community capacity building.

·        Represent UCRT in different meetings and workshops at programme level and ensure the good reputation of UCRT name is well maintained.

Terms of Employment: Three months’ probation period and long-term contract after satisfactory work performance.

NB: This position is only open to Tanzanian nationals.
